President presents new mayor of Almaty

By order of the head of state Imangali Tasmagambetov has been assigned new mayor of Almaty, KZ-today reports. Imangali Tasmagambetov was born on 9 December 1956 at Novobogat village of Atyrau region. Graduated from Uralsk Pushkin University as a teacher of geography and biology, PhD. From August 1993 to March 1994 - RK president assistant on organisational issues. From March 1994 to October 1997 - RK vice-premier (responsible for social and interior political issues). After that he was appointed minister of education and culture. From October 1997 to September 1998 - deputy head of the presidential administration. From September 1998 to February 1999 he was the first assistant to the president of RK. In February 1999 Imangali Tasmagambetov was appointed governor of Atyrau region. In December 2000 - January 2002 hew worked as the first deputy prime minister. In January 2002 - June 2003 he headed the government of the country. From June 2003 to March 2004 occupied the position of the secretary of state. As from March 2004 until recently he headed the presidential administration of RK. |
