CSTO defence ministers discuss regional situation in Moscow

One of the main subjects of a meeting of the CSTO council of defence ministers in Moscow was a discussion of the military and political situation in the region of the organisation activities, a report circulated by the press service of the Ministry of Defence of RK today, November 26, says.

Other issues were considered during the meeting chaired by Mukhtar Altynbayev, defence minister of RK, including a draft concept of military co-operation between CIS member states, a draft programme of military co-operation between CIS member states until 2010, a draft agreement on training of military personnel for CSTO member states. Also issues related with activities of the CSTO interstate commission for military and economic co-operation were raised. The ministers summed up results of joint manoeuvres "Frontier-2004", defined chief moments of joint manoeuvres to be carried out in 2005.

Military and technical co-operation was also discussed at a meeting of CIS defence ministers that took place in Moscow on the same day. A concept of military co-operation in CIS, programme of military co-operation between CIS member states until 2010 were reviewed.
