In January 2001 conjugal couple turned to the said Center and on October 4, 2001 three healthy girls were born at once. They were named Darya, Ann and Sophia. Kazakhstani doctors did not hurry to inform media on this unique event being afraid for the babies for they were born after 8 months of pregnancy, which is a critical period for newborns. At present the mother and her daughters feel themselves "normal" and on October 31, 2001 they will be discharged from the Center. Treatment of barrenness by means of extra-corporal impregnation "baby in the test-tube" has commenced in Kazakhstan and Central Asia in the Almaty Center of human reproduction. First Kazakhstani "baby from the test-tube" was born in July 1996. In 2000 in the said Center there were born 100 babies of whom in 23 cases twins were born. Along with Kazakhstanis, the center has treated families from other Central Asian states, as well as from Canada, Russia and Turkey. Tamara Jusubalieva, Chief surgeon of the Center said that 18-20% of conjugal couples suffer from bareness. Two thousand people turn to the center every year to help them to get treated. 200-300 conjugal couples get treatment every year on "baby from the test-tube" program. "First years of experiment the success was 15%, now it is 33%. Also, we have ten babies born on "substitute mother" program, of which in one case there were twins born" - said T.Jusubalieva. According to statistics, 220-250 thousand babies are born in Kazakhstan every year. |
