The competitive commission in awarding of educational grants and credits has started its work in Almaty. The Minister of Education and Science Mr. Nurali Bekturganov opened the commission on Sunday in August 5.

According to the information of the Director of the National Center of State standards of education and testing of the Ministry of Education and Science Mr. Serik Irsaliev, 69% or 100 thousand leavers from 142 thousand ' who was taking part in the testing, successfully passed it.

725 persons or 0,5% from the total quantity of the leavers, got more than 100 balls , that is equivalent to the excellent mark. 16 thousand persons or 11% of leavers- from 71 to 100 balls, that is equivalent to the "good" mark. 71 thousand leavers or 50% got 70 balls. 42 thousand of leavers or 31% didn't get necessary 40 balls and lost the right on entering the Kazakstan's institutes , including private ones, in 2001.

According to Mr. Irsaliev's opinion, small quantity of the leavers, getting more than 100 balls couldn't be examined as the decrease of educational level in Kazakhstan, because entering tests were formed in such way, that the leavers who got more than 100 balls must be examined as gifted children.

Mr. Bekturganov announced, that the Ministry in the nearest time is going to start the work with the great Kazakhstan's companies and region's administrations in giving the educational grants for the leavers, who want to study the professions , that are necessary for these companies and regions. He announced that two oil companies have already announced about giving of 30 grants for the children of their stuff.

During the commission's work Mr. Bekturganov underlined the technical mistakes, that happened during the testing 's holding. In particular, there were some teachers who prompted the correct answers to the leavers, the rules of leaver's sitting were disturbed and so on. However, in a whole Mr. Bekturganov recognized the testing as taking place. The commission will continue its work to August 10, 2001.
