Foreign minister received US congressman Faleomavaega

Kassymzhomart Tokayev, foreign minister of Kazakhstan received a US congressman Eni Faleomavaega who had arrived in Kazakhstan with a six day visit, yesterday, August 3, KZ-today has been informed in the press service of the MFA of RK.

The sides again stressed the strategic character of mutual relations between their states. K. Tokayev and E. Faleomavaega discussed issues further and deeper co-operation.

The day before that the head of Kazakh MFA received general John Abizaid, head of the US central command. During their meeting J. Abizaid noted a contribution of Kazakhstan into the Central Asian security, as well as the Kazakh government efforts to assist the coalition forces in the stabilisation processes in Iraq and Afghanistan. The US representative stressed that Washington highly appreciated the role of Astana in the fight against international terrorism and religious extremism.

The sides also expressed their concern about the current situation in Afghanistan and paid attention to a necessity to provide appropriate conditions for the presidential elections in the country on an alternative basis.
