"Kazakhstan, as all other progressive countries, sooner or later will abolish the death penalty completely," - Igor Rogov, chairman of the constitution council of RK, has said today, July 27, responding to questions from journalists during a break in the round table meeting on the subject of "Guarantees of constitutional rights of persons, sentenced to capital punishment, life terms and long prison terms," KZ-todaу correspondent reports from Astana.

The certainty of the chairman of the constitution council of RK that Kazakhstan will abolish the death penalty completely "is strengthened by the fact that the head of state has introduced a death penalty moratorium."

With reference to the terms of death penalty abolition, I. Rogov believes that "it will depend mainly on the efficiency of law enforcement authorities, international organisations, and how we will form the public opinion."
