A workshop "Assessment of unexplored oil and gas resources with the usage of GRASP-II software of the US minerals management service" will take place in Kokshetau July 19-22, KZ-today correspondent has been advised by USAID representation in Almaty.

The workshop is organised by USAID for natural resource management programme (NRMP) in Central Asia together with the US minerals management service (MMS).

Representatives of the committee on geology and subsurface protection, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of RK, will also participate in it.

The target of the workshop is to acquaint its participants with the newest GRASP-II software (Geologic Resource Assessment).

GRASP-II was made by MMS, which is the federal agency that manages the US oil and gas resources. This software allows to carry out geologic and geophysical survey of the explored and unexplored oil and gas resources. This model also allows to conduct economic modelling. Moreover, the programme allows its user to assess economic expediency of the development of oil and gas resources in order to reveal profitability of oil and gas operations.

This software also provides possibilities to create databases and to process statistic information. The software can be used when bids for oil and gas development are carried out and it will promote improvement of the natural resource assessment methods in Kazakhstan.
