List of candidates for president grows to ten

Ten individuals are currently going to run for president. Such number of applications has been received by the Central Election Commission, KZ-today reports with reference to the CEC of RK.

Maya Karamayeva, 43, resident of Talgar, Almaty region, declared yesterday her intention to run for president. She will run as a self-appointed candidate.

The CEC also received an application for the registration as a candidate for president from Baltabai Rakhimzhanov, president of the National Farmers Federation of Kazakhstan "KazAgro."

B. Rakhimzhanov was born on May 15, 1945, lives in Almaty.

Earlier the documents for the registration have been submitted by Nursultan Nazarbayev, current president of Kazakhstan, Zharmakhan Tuyakbai, leader of "For a Just Kazakhstan" opposition bloc, senate deputy Walikhan Kaisarov, Almaty businessmen Salim Oten, Amantai-kaji Assylbek, famous public figure, Mekemtas Tleulessov, lawyer from Almaty region, Yerassyl Abylkassymov, deputy of mazhilis (parliament's lower house,) and Meiramkul Kozhagulova, unemployed Aktobe resident.

The next presidential election in Kazakhstan is due on December 4, 2005. As per the plan of basic election events, the nomination of candidates ends two months before the election date, that is on October 3.
