Pavlodar oblast today occupies the second place in the Republic in the number of HIV-infected persons, their total number being 685 persons. Around 80% of HIV-infected - young people in the age of 15-29, including 13 school pupils, 18 college students, a University student. As the oblast Centre for prevention and struggle against AIDS noted, all the infected pupils - are drug addicts, contaminated through a dirty syringes use. The Centre pays a lot of attention to the efficient functioning of 10 points of syringes exchange. Since the beginning of the year 18 thousand people have come to those points. For AIDS prevention in the oblast schools a special course "AIDS problems and prevention" is read. |
