Portugal to play against Kazakhstan

The Football Federation of Portugal has officially confirmed that the most famous players of this country – Luis Figo from “Real” (Madrid), Rui Costa from “Milano” and Fernando Couto from “Lazio” (Roma) will be called to play against the national team of Kazakhstan, which will take place on 20 August, KZ-today correspondent has been advised by Tlekbek Akpayev, first vice president of the Football Union of Kazakhstan.

The game is planned to take place at a new stadium of Portuguese town Savis. The chief coach of Portuguese team, ex-coach of the world champions 2002 - Brazil – Luis Felipe Scolari – gathers all the best Portuguese players, playing in English, Spanish, German, Italian and French clubs for the game.

“Our players have never played against such a strong opponent, - Т. Akpayev observed. – The Portuguese team is among favourites of the European Cup 2004. A game against them is a wonderful school for Kazakhstani players”.

An agreement on this game was reached between the president of the Football Union of Kazakhstan Rakhat Aliyev and the president of Football Federation of Portugal Gilberto Madail at the last UEFA congress in Rome.
