Foreign minister of RK meets the Bush administration

Kassymzhomart Tokayev, foreign minister of Kazakhstan, met top representatives of the Bush administration and a number of influential US congressmen during his visit to USA . KZ-today correspondent has been advised about this in the press service of the embassy of RK to the USA. S. Hadley, deputy national security advisor, during his meeting with the head of Kazakhstani MFA said that the United States "applaud wise economic policy of Kazakhstan during the last ten years."

He suggested that "the republic must continue to solidify its achievements, having a clear view of the future development." The USA will support Kazakhstan in this by all means, - S. Hadley observed.

At a meeting with T. Stevens, chairman of the senate committee on appropriations, the Kazakhstani minister said that both sides observed significant progress in bilateral relations, based on the progress in the construction of democracy in Kazakhstan. The senator also noted significant positive advances in this area and stressed an interest of the Congress upper chamber to further develop its co-operation with Kazakhstan.

H. Hyde, chairman of the committee on international relations, House of Representatives talking to K. Tokayev marked a progressive development of Kazakh-American co-operation and welcomed the "growing friendship" between our states. According to H. Hyde, the economic and political achievements of the republic result from a "good leadership" and today "Kazakhstan becomes an example" for the region countries. He expressed a hope that the forthcoming parliamentary elections in the republic will be open and comply with the world standards.

The American legislator also expressed gratitude for the firm and unwavering adherence of Kazakhstan to its commitments in the stabilisation of Iraq. H. Hyde stressed that Kazakhstan could play an important role in providing oil supplies to the world market in the conditions of persisting international instability.

Summing up the results of his visit to the USA, the foreign minister of Kazakhstan called it "fruitful and successful", stressing that "both sides stated big progress in the mutual relations and an even bigger potential for their further development."
