Harmonisation between national and international standards has been discussed during the meeting. D. Akhmetov informed A. Bryden about plans, providing the development of new and the revision of current standards of the real economy sector in order to harmonise them with international standards, and about measures taken to accelerate a transfer of national ventures to the ISO 9000/14000 standards. In particular, the head of government stressed that it is planned to prepare 197 Kazakhstani standards, harmonised with international requirements at the same time revising 61 current standards of the real economy sector in 2004. Besides, the meeting participants observed that the implementation of national standardisation and certification system development programme for 2004-2006 in RK will "promote the support of domestic production and development of export-oriented industry, increase the competitiveness of commodities by means of standardisation and compliance evaluation, get rid of technical barriers in the international commerce." |
