CIS council of defence ministers meets in Yerevan

A regular session of the CIS council of defence ministers opens Friday, May 21, in Yerevan, Dushanbe correspondent of KZ-today has been advised by Zarobiddin Sirodzhev, head of the press centre of the Ministry of Defence of RT.

He says that 23 issues of military and technical co-operation in CIS will be brought to the attention of the session participants. These include issues of providing complex counteraction to air attack forces and means, co-ordinating positions of the Commonwealth countries on nuclear non-proliferation, realising the Military and Technical Co-operation Programme, training peacemaking units, creating a unitary joint communication system, preparing specialists for hydrometeorological services, and other organisational and cadre problems.

The issues that will be approved by the ministers will be brought to the attention of CIS council of the heads of state for their approval and consequent execution.
