Kazakh-Chinese subcommittee for energy co-operation ink agreement

The first meeting of Kazakh-Chinese subcommittee on energy co-operation, was concluded by inking basic documents yesterday, April 4, in Astana, KZ-today correspondent reports from the capital.

Zhang Guobao, vice chairman of the national development and reform committee, PRC, observed that "common construction of the Kazakh-Chinese pipeline and joint investments mean that the energy co-operation between RK and PRC have entered a new stage."

The parties agreed to increase joint survey and development of petroleum fields, accelerate work on possible joint gas pipeline construction, regard opportunities in oil processing and petrochemical industry.

China also expressed its readiness to increase its investments in activities on the Caspian oil shelf.
