ECO planning council meets in Teheran

The 15th meeting of the Economic Co-operation Organisation's (ECO) regional planning council is taking place in Teheran, Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Tajikistan has advised KZ-today.

The participants of the meeting that is due to be concluded on 17 February will review programmes and projects for 2005 related with energy, agriculture, environment protection, commerce, investments, transport and communications, and the annual calendar of ECO events fir 2005-2006, all of which is going to help create a free trade area in the region by 2015.

Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are members of the organisation. The territory of ECO member countries covers a total area of 7 million square kilometres with the population over 350 million people.
