Export potential of Kazakhstan grain to reach 7 - 8 million tons

Astana. July 20. Kazakhstan Today - Export potential of Kazakhstan grain, taking into account the rests of 2009, will total 7 - 8 million tons. The Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Akylbek Kurishbayev, informed today during the selector government meeting, the agency reports.

"Export potential, taking into account the grain rests of this year, will be 7 - 8 million tons that is by 2 million tons more than last year," A. Kurishbayev informed.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan does not exclude a possibility of export of Kazakhstan grain to the market of Ukraine. According to A. Kurishbayev, in connection with crop decrease in Ukraine, we will probably export our grain to Ukraine. "Export of Kazakhstan grain through the Black Sea ports may be renewed," the Minister of Agriculture informed.

He said that the main directions of export of grain from Kazakhstan are the countries of Transcaucasia, Central Asia, Iran and Afghanistan.

As informed earlier, on July 9th, Director of Department of Agriculture and Fytosanitory Safety of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Anna Buts, stated that Kazakhstan needs to undertake all the necessary measures to improve quality of Kazakhstan grain to raise its competitiveness in the world markets.
