July 10. Kazakhstan Today - The military base for Collective Rapid Response Forces (CRRF) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be located in the south of Kyrgyzstan in the near future, the agency reports citing a source in the Ministry of Defense of Kyrgyzstan.
According to the source, Vice Prime Minister of Russia, Igor Sechin, and the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Anatoly Serdyukov, arrived in Kyrgyzstan to hold the negotiations. "During the visit, the members of the Russian delegation discussed a possibility of expansion in the south of Kyrgyzstan the military base for CRRF CSTO," the source informed.
As informed earlier, the leaders of CSTO member states made the decision on creation of CRRF in Moscow on February 4th, 2009. CRRF will be used to repulse military aggression and carrying out of special operations to struggle against international terrorism and extremism, transnational organized crime, drug traffic and liquidation of consequences of emergencies.
