According to the Statistics Agency, the urban population amounted to 8437.1 thousand and the rural - 7391 thousand people.
The increase of population of Kazakhstan in January - March, 2009 amounted to 50 752 people (44 726 people - in January - March, 2008). As of April 1, 2009, the increase rate per 1000 inhabitants amounted to 13.4 (as of April 1, 2008 - 10.8) people.
