Medvedev to meet SCO Secretaries of Security Councils

Kazakhstan Today - The President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, will meet Secretaries of Security Councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries, the agency reports citing the official site of the President of Russia.
As informed earlier, D. Medvedev met Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the SCO member countries who held in Moscow the meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO member states on May, 15th.
During the meeting the officials discussed the results of Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO member states, preparation for carrying out of the meeting of the Council of the SCO country leaders, which will take place in Ekaterinburg in June, 2009.
The officials also exchanged opinions on the condition and prospects of expansion of cooperation of the SCO states, the main and strategic objectives for further consolidation of the organization and improvement of its work.
As informed earlier, the national coordinator of the Kyrgyz Republic in SCO, Tolendy Makeev, informed at the press conference in Bishkek yesterday, Kyrgyzstan approved the application of Belarus and Sri Lanka to receive the status of the SCO dialogue partners.
SCO is a constantly operating regional international organization founded in June, 2001 by the leaders of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
