Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kyrgyzstan, Kyrmanbek Bakiev, has suggested directing funds of International Aral Sea Rescue Fund (ASRF) for restoration works in the delta zone of the rivers Amu Darya and Syr Darya. The President of Kyrgyzstan stated during the summit of the leaders of the states - founders of the International Aral Sea Rescue Fund (ASRF), the agency reports.
"Our republic is located in the delta zone of the rivers intensively used both by Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for irrigation, development of electric energy, and development of drinking and industrial needs. Long-term average total natural stock is 47.2 cubic kilometers, thus the Republic of Kyrgyzstan now has faced threat of considerable reduction of stocks of fresh water," K. Bakiev informed.
