Almaty hosts summit of IASR states - founders

Almaty. April 28. Kazakhstan Today - Almaty hosts the summit of the leaders of the states - founders of Aral Sea Rescue Fund (IASR), the agency reports.

The leaders of all state - founders of the fund are taking part in the summit. The chairman of UN regional center for preventive diplomacy for Central Asia, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General, Miroslav Encha, has been invited to the summit.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, "the summit participants will discuss the issues connected with activity of the fund, formation of the new structure of the IFAR authorized bodies - Boards, Executive Committee and Revision Committee, as well as activization of cooperation with the international organizations, financial structures and donors."

International Fund of Aral Rescue was created in 1993 by the joint decision of the Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan to overcome ecological crisis and improve social and economic situation of the Aral Sea.

According to the decision of the leaders of the states - founders of IASR of August, 25th, 2008, Kazakhstan was selected IASR chairman for three years (2009 - 2011).
