Astana. January 15. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, Serik Ahmetov, informed tariffs for passenger transportations will not be increased in 2009, the agency reports.

"Last year the program of reforming of railway branch was accepted, the main direction of which is attraction of investments due to 15 % increase of tariffs for railway transportation," the Minister of Transport reminded.

"This decision has been justified, but in the view of the economic crisis, I think we should meet the interests of our consumers," S. Ahmetov said.

"1 billion KZT is planned to be invested into railway branch that will provide additional 150 new workplaces," he said.
