Kazakh President charged to toughen system of preparation and selection of judges

Astana. November 27. Kazakhstan Today - The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, charged to toughen the mechanism of preparation and selection of judges during the meeting in Akorda related to realization and prospect of judicial reform in the country, the agency reports citing the president's press service.

According to the press service, the leader of the state listened to the reports on the condition and prospects of development of judicial system, the basic approaches to formation of the judicial body in the light of the amended Constitution of the country.

"Nursultan Nazarbayev has noted some improvements in the work of the courts. He also drew attention to the chairmen of judicial bodies to a number of shortcomings in the work of the judicial system. The chairmen of the Supreme Court, the Supreme Judicial Council, and the president's administration have been charged to toughen the mechanism of preparation and selection of judges, to strengthen control and requirements to execution by judges of their duties, to undertake measures on effective implementation of the new legislation," the press service informs.

Following the results of the meeting, its participants approved the main provisions of the project of the Strategic Plan of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2009 - 2011.
