October 10. Kazakhstan Today - Bishkek hosts the next session of Interstate Council of the leaders of the states of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC), the agency reports.
The agenda of the session includes 15 questions. The leaders of six countries will discuss creation of the Customs Union and unified economic space. One more important question will be the project of actions for 2008 - 2010 and the next years on realization of priority directions of development of EurAsEC. The agenda has already included the questions on creation of the Customs Union according to the plan of actions on formation of the Customs Union within the limits of EurAsEC and unified economic space.
The document takes into account non-realized during 2003 - 2007 period measures on formation of the energy market, transport union, cooperation in real sector of economy, food safety, cooperation in socially-humanitarian sphere, in the field of migratory policy, and improvement of EurAsEC control system.
EurAsEC - the international economic organization having the functions connected with formation of common external customs borders that include the countries-founders Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, development of uniform external economic policy, tariffs, prices and other components of the common market.
The contract on establishment of the Eurasian Economic Community was signed on October 10, 2000 in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, by the Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. In May, 2002 by the request of Moldova and Ukraine governments the observer status was given to these states at EurAsEC. Uzbekistan joined EurAsEc in 2006.
