Astana. October 6. Kazakhstan Today - Latvia wishes to represent European Union in Kazakhstan. The President of Latvia, Valdis Zatlers, said on Friday during the negotiations with the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, the agency reports.

"Latvia as the member of the European Union has an interest to represent European Union in Kazakhstan and to represent Kazakhstan as a partner in the European Union," V. Zatlers said.

"We have a concept about processes of peace and safety and I think that we can make these processes successful and peaceful," the President of Latvia noted.

"I think that not only commodity turnover, but also political support of both parties has great importance," he emphasized.

He also stated that "communication between China, Kazakhstan, Russia and Latvia is a real transport way in both directions. If the transport direction works successfully, trade will be successful. Cooperation is the basis of security."
