Vice chairman of the state sanitary-and-epidemiologic supervision committee of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan, Albert Askarov, said at the press conference on Tuesday, the agency reports.
"1171 cases have been registered within 7 months of 2008 that is by 20 % more compared with the similar period of the last year," A. Askarov said.
"HIV spread among the population does not exceed 0.2 %. It is below 0.1 %," he explained.
"For comparison, in the CIS countries and the East Europe HIV spread is about one percent," A. Askarov said. "We keep the situation under control over the concentrated stage," the representative of the Ministry of Health informed.
