Kazakhstan Today - Weight-lifter, Ilya Ilyin, won the first Olympic gold medal in XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing on Sunday (up to 94 kg), the agency reports referring to the press-service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan.
"Ilyin hoisted 406 kg (180 in jerk and 226 in snatch)," the message explained.
Kazakhstan has received 8 medals: one gold, three silver and four bronze.
