South Korea to develop hydro carbonic deposits of Turkmen shelf of Caspian Sea

Almaty. July 9. Kazakhstan Today - The Republic of Korea creates a special consortium of the largest companies of the country for development of oil fields and gas in the Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea. The Minister of Economics of South Korea, Li Yun Ho, informed during the meeting held on July 6 with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov in Astana, the agency reports referring to Information Agency Turkmenistan.ru.

Berdymuhamedov informed that Turkmenistan offers South-Korean partners three perspective blocks in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea."

According to the Minister of Economics of South Korea, the delegation that includes representatives of business circles of the country, wishing to take part in this project, will visit Ashkhabad in August of 2008.

Li Yun Ho also informed that Korea has already approved the structure of bilateral intergovernmental commission on cooperation with Turkmenistan that includes 17 officials headed by the Minister of Economics of Korea.

The official visit of Berdymuhamedov to Seoul is planned for autumn of 2008. The Presidents of Turkmenistan and South Korea will meet within the forthcoming Olympiad in Beijing.
