Astana. July 1. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan as OSCE chairman in 2010 can play an important role in solution of interethnic problems. The OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebekk stated, following the results of the negotiations with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Marat Tazhin on Monday, the agency reports.

"Taking into account strategic position of the east and the west, Kazakhstan can play a very important role as OSCE chairman," K. Vollebek said. OSCE space has faced challenges connected both with a varied ethnic structure and globalization, and relations between various religions.

"The government of Kazakhstan is dealing with these issues and will continue during its chairmanship in the organization." "I hope to work with them on these issues in the future," the OSCE High Commissioner noted.

K. Vollebek and M. Tazhin's negotiation took place within the 17th annual session of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Astana.
