June 30. Kazakhstan Today - The government of Kazakhstan has agreed to postpone the beginning of commercial extraction in Kashagan deposit by 2013. The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sauat Mynbayev informed at the government session on Saturday, the agency reports.
"The memorandum was signed on Friday, according to which we agreed to postpone the term of the beginning of commercial extraction by 2013. If extraction starts after October 1, 2013, the expenses of the consortium will not be compensated by Kazakhstan," S. Mynbayev said. The Minister expressed hope that the beginning of commercial extraction is postponed for the last time.
"The negotiation group has demonstrated sufficient adherence to the principle of upholding interests of Kazakhstan," the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov noted.
