June 5. Kazakhstan Today - Public fund Bota has been created in Kazakhstan, the agency reports referring to the press service of World Bank (WB). The first meeting of Trustee Council of the Public fund Bota took place in Almaty on June 4.
The Public fund Bota was registered on May 14, 2008, according to the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as an independent noncommercial organization. The fund, created as a result of the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan, the United States of America, and Switzerland and with assistance of the World Bank, will render address help to children and the youth from needy families of Kazakhstan, the press service informs.
"World Bank has agreed to promote the governments of Kazakhstan, the United States and Switzerland in creation in Kazakhstan of the independent Public fund Bota, which will direct nearly $84 million, being on accounts in Switzerland, for the projects promoting development of children and the youth from needy families of this Central Asian country with the population of about 16 million people and average gross revenue per capita of $5000," the press service explains.
The next step in the Public fund activity will be selection on competitive basis of the international nongovernmental organization to work as the program manager of the fund. The Public fund is expected to start its work in the end of October, 2008.
Independent founders of the Public fund Bota became five citizens of Kazakhstan, public leaders, who will also be the members of Trustee Council of the Public fund: Director of Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Observance of Legality Evgeniy Zhovtis, Executive Director of Transparency-Kazahstan Sergey Zlotnikov, the chairman of Fund ProMed (Almaty) Zhamilya Nugmanova, Director of high school №27 (Astana) Hakim Sadvakasov, and the chief physician of maternity hospital №1 (Almaty) Akmira Sadykova.
According to the press service, except for the above-mentioned five citizens of Kazakhstan in Trustee Council of the Public fund Bota, the Ambassador of the USA to the Republic of Kazakhstan John Ordway and Ptero Veglio from Switzerland are the members of Trustee Council of the Public fund Bota.
