Russia, China and India, suggest to "encircle" Afghanistan

May 16. Kazakhstan Today - Russia, China and India suggest creating belt of narcotic safety around Afghanistan. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov reported at the conference following the results of the meeting in Yekaterinburg with his counterparts from China and India on Thursday, the agency reports referring to Russian news service (RSN).
"We considered the situation around Afghanistan, the source of drugs and terrorist threat. We support the efforts of the international association on stabilization in this country. We consider it useful to take measures on creation of belts of narcotic safety with participation of all interested parties and at coordinating role of the United Nations, Lavrov informed.
As for terrorist threat outgoing from Afghanistan, S. Lavrov noted that all participants of the meeting in Yekaterinburg supported acceleration of the work over convention on fight against terrorism under the UN aegis.
