May 4. Kazakhstan Today - The Northern Kazakhstan is ready to struggle against bird's flu, the agency reports referring to the local television and radio channel on Sunday.
The session of the regional staff took place in Petropavlovsk for prevention of spread and incidences of bird's flu. The agenda includes the questions of preventive maintenance and measures for struggle against the virus on the territory of the region.
According to the session participants, in the second half of 2007 and the first quarter of 2008 outbursts of highly pathogenic bird's flu were registered in 39 countries of the world, including the Russian Federation. In this connection, the experts consider that it is necessary to be ready for extreme situations.
In the area of the buffer zone - 100 - 150 kilometers from the Russian border, as last year, poultry in private farmsteads will be vaccinated. Inspectors distribute special instructions to the population. Trainings and seminars have been held. The headquarters' chairman, the assistant akim of the Northern Kazakhstan oblast Samat Eskendirov emphasized that nature protection and veterinary police should keep the situation under control regarding keeping birds' in populated areas. The measures for prevention of highly pathogenic bird's flu have been accepted in all poultry-farming enterprises, including protection of the territory and vaccination of the personnel of the factories.
In her turn, Natalia Vorontsova, the chief of the department of public health services, reported on readiness of medical service. The chairmen of the territorial departments of forest, hunting and fishing facilities informed on preventive measures accepted against bird's flu.
There are 28 hunting facilities, and 90 huntsmen are in the Northern Kazakhstan oblast. 280 reservoirs are being rented.
