Kazakhstan Today - The next session of the special working group on development of the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea at the level of Vice Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the near-Caspian states has been decided to hold in the city Baku, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan on Wednesday.
According to the press service of the foreign policy department, the next 22 session of the special working group on development of the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea at the level of Vice Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the near-Caspian states took place on April 15-16, 2008 in Teheran, during which the chairmen of the delegations stated the positions of their countries on the legal status of the Caspian Sea and the major questions of cooperation. The Kazakhstan delegation at the negotiations was headed by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Nurlan Ermekbayev.
"During the negotiations the parties continued discussion of the project of the convention, coordinated some of its regulations, and exchanged opinions on realization of the arrangements reached during the second summit of the leaders of the Caspian littoral states taken place on October 16, 2007 in Teheran," the press service widespread on Wednesday informs.
The parties positively estimated the results of the 22nd sessions and emphasized the necessity of extension of negotiations for prompt coordination of the convention on the legal the status of the Caspian Sea. Following the results of the session, the parties accepted the communique.
