Astana. March 21. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan citizens will have three days off to celebrate the state holiday Nauryz meyramy, which is traditionally celebrated on March 22, the agency reports.

The norms of the Law on Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan stipulate that the days of the state holiday are the days off. When a holiday and a day off coincide, the day off becomes a working day following after a holiday. Consequently, this year Kazakhstan citizens will have the days off on March 22, 23 and 24.

In Kazakhstan Nauryz was not celebrated nationally from 1926 up to 1988. Since 2001 Nauryz has been declared the state holiday.

Nauryz meyramy - a holiday of spring rebirth in Kazakhstan. It originated in the East long before acceptance of Moslem, therefore it is devoid of religious ceremonialism and orientation. According to the eastern calendar Nauryz - the first day of the new year that coincides with the day of spring equinox.
