February 1. Kazakhstan Today - High rates of economic growth in spite of slowing down of world economic rates are expected in Kazakhstan in 2008, the representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said at the meeting with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov on Thursday, the agency reports referring to the prime minister's press service.
During the meeting David Owen, IMF senior advisor for the Middle East and Central Asia, presented the Prime Minister new chairman of IMF mission for Kazakhstan Timothy Callen.
IMF experts informed that the rates of economic growth in 2008 will likely to slow down considerably. The continuation of crisis in the world financial markets will lead to more adverse results.
Under these conditions Kazakhstan will, possibly, face limitation of access to the world markets of the capital. Accordingly, GDP of the country is expected to go down. However, despite of the global economic crisis, Kazakhstan will keep high rates of growth of its economy.
