"The main event of presidency is the session of the council of the chairmen of SCO member states. According to the defined by the President of Russia policy on active participation of the regions in foreign policy of the country, the government of Russia had supported the initiative of the leadership of Sverdlovsk oblast on carrying out of the session of the chairmen of the states in Yekaterinburg in 2009," SCO secretariat press service informed.
According to the press service, the President of Russia decreed to create the Organizing committee for preparation and maintenance of presidency of Russia in SCO in 2008 - 2009, the regulations on the organizing committee has been approved. Sergey Prihodko, the assistant of the President of Russia has been appointed the chairman of the organizing committee.
