Education Minister reported President on education development in Kazakhstan

Astana. December 5. Kazakhstan Today - The Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanseyit Tuymebayev reported the President of the Republic Nursultan Nazarbayev on the course of realization of assignments on development of education and science included in the Message to the Nation - New Kazakhstan in the new world, the agency reports referring to the president's administration press service.

"The leader of the state attaches huge importance to development of science. This year the state program of science development for the period till 2012 has been approved. Significant resources have been allocated to 10 engineering laboratories and financing of 5 more laboratories is expected next year. Scientific-educational consortia between research establishments and higher educational institutions of the country have been created," Z. Tuymebayev said at the briefing.

The new Law on Education was adopted in 2007. For the last years state financing of education in Kazakhstan totals about 4 % of GNP. The structure and maintenance of education have been reformed according to the international standards. The schools will be shifted to 12 year of schooling.
