Kazakhstan Today - According to the decision of the international board of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in 2008 Kazakhstan will undergo an independent estimation of the process of realization of EITI, Kazakhstan NGO coalition Oil incomes - under society's control, the agency reports.
The coalition consisting of 60 NGO's from all regions of Kazakhstan addresses all parties of the memorandum of mutual understanding on EITI realization in Kazakhstan with an appeal to accept a number of measures directed at achievement of conformity of realization of all criteria and standards of this initiative.
According to the press release, "the purpose of the estimation is revealing the degree of performance by the state and the extracting companies of the obligations taken within EITI. From the point of view of the image of our country, it is very important that by the results of the estimation Kazakhstan could receive the status of the country completely corresponding to all EITI requirements."
