Kazakhstan State Secretary held a number of working meetings in Washington

Kazakhstan Today - The State Secretary of Kazakhstan Kanat Saudabayev held working meetings with the state and public figures of the USA in Washington, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.
K. Saudabayev met the chairman of the Helsinki Commission of the USA congressman Alsee Hastings and the chairman of the committee for foreign affairs of the House of Representatives of the USA Tom Lantos.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, yesterday at the meeting a broad range of bilateral and international questions, among which - Kazakhstan application for OSCE presidency has been discussed. In the context of this question, the representatives of the USA have noted "the importance of support of the application of the country for this high post and further development of democratic processes in Kazakhstan and strengthening of authority of the organization in the countries of Central Asia and the CIS," the press service commented.
The same day a solemn ceremony of delivery of the state awards of Kazakhstan took place in the embassy Kazakhstan in Washington to the senator Mary Landrieu and the President of the Institute Eisenhower Suzan Eisenhower.
Handing over Dostyk award of 1st and 2nd degrees for significant contribution to strengthening of friendship and cooperation between two countries on behalf of the leader of the state, K. Saudabayev "expressed confidence in further development of partnership between two countries, having noted the important role of the awarded, prominent state and public figures of the USA in this process."
K. Saudabayev's visit schedule in the USA, which will last till November 9, includes the meetings in the White House, with the leadership of the state, the State Department and the Ministry of Energy, the heads of the Congress and nongovernmental organizations and with several candidates for president of the USA.
