The chairman of the representation of the EU commission in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the Ambassador Adrian Van Der Meer said during the meeting with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sauat Mynbayev on Monday, September 17, the agency reports referring to the ministry's press service.
The Ambassador noted, "within the limits of strategy of diversification of the routes for transportation of energy resources, the European union conducted special research on studying economic viability of Trans Caspian gas pipeline. According to the results of our analysis, transportation of gas through this system will cheaper to manage than through Central Asia - Center gas pipeline."
According to the press service, S. Mynbayev noted that preference regarding the choice of export routes, first of all, is given to the economic interests of Kazakhstan, rather than political reasons. The Minister informed on the condition and prospects of the Kazakhstan export ways to the foreign markets and emphasized that Kazakhstan always followed the policy of diversification of energy routes.
During the meeting Adrian Van Der Meer expressed interested in the succession of events in negotiations on development of Kashagan deposit.
"We received the new plan and the budget on development of Kashagan deposit, where the increase in expenditures will be increased by more than twice. Such radical increase cannot be accepted without careful analysis and at present we are in the process of negotiations," the minister stated.
During the meeting "the chairman of the EU commission representation suggested to create the center for transfer of technologies in the field of development and extraction of energy resources," the press release informs.
