September 17. Kazakhstan Today - The Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev will visit Syria. The Foreign Minister of the Syrian Arabian Republic Walid al-Mouallim informed today at the briefing after the meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Tazhin.
"The main purpose of my visit is preparation for the forthcoming visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Syria," Walid Mouallim said. "During the negotiations with the Kazakhstan Minister we noted the necessity to improve normative-legal base of our bilateral mutual relations and discussed the questions of preparation of cooperation agreements in trade, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres," he noted.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Syria in 2006 made $16.8, export - $16 million, import - more than $800 thousand. For January - May, 2007 volume of commodity turnover reached $15.5 million.
