Nazarbayev, Berdymukhamedov discussed questions of transit of Turkmen gas through Kazakhstan to foreign markets

Kazakhstan Today - During the official two-day visit to Ashkhabad began on Tuesday, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov discussed the questions of transit of Turkmen gas through Kazakhstan to foreign markets, the president's press service informed.

"Cooperation in energy sphere is mutually beneficial and meets the interests of the people of two states. In this connection, the questions of transit of Turkmen gas through the territory of Kazakhstan to the foreign markets, participation of the Kazakhstan companies in exploration and development of deposits of hydrocarbon raw material in Turkmenistan and other questions of bilateral cooperation have been discussed," the message states.

"The leaders of two states charged the governments of two countries to hold in the near future the second session of the Kazakhstan-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and to define perspective directions of cooperation and development of specific joint projects," the president's press service noted.

During the negotiations the arrangements on carrying out of the Days of culture of Turkmenistan in Kazakhstan and the Forum of art workers and intelligentsia of two countries in 2008, and the Year of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan in 2009 have been reached.

During the visit N. Nazarbayev and G. Berdymukhamedov signed the joint communique.
