Krishna members refused in allocation of land plots for construction of temple in Almaty

August 6. Kazakhstan Today - The Society of Consciousness of Krishna is refused in allocation of the land plots for construction of the temple in Almaty. The representatives of the religious community referring to the telephone conversation with the main expert of the department of land relations of the city A. Nukushev informed the agency.
According to information of Krishna members, the employee of the department informed them, that the decision has been accepted at the session of the agrarian commission on July 12. "The Society of Consciousness of Krishna has been refused in emission of the land area for construction of a cult construction. The reason of refusal - absence in Almaty of vacant land areas," the community informed.
The representatives of the community reminded that in March, 2007 at the OSCE session in Vienna the Chairman of the Kazakhstan delegation Bolat Baykadamov authorized by the government of the Republic stated that the Society of Consciousness of Krishna will be provided with the land plots for construction of the temple in Almaty and also the site for keeping of 30 cows in Almaty oblast. "Today, after four months, the promise of the authorities of Kazakhstan has not been kept," Krishna representatives stated.
As it was informed earlier, the conflict around the Community of Krishna has been lasting since 2004. In November, 2006 the authorities of Karasay region of Almaty oblast destroyed 14 houses of believers of the community. On June 15, 2007 - 12 more houses, 47 hectares of land were withdrawn.
