April 6. Kazakhstan Today - Multidisciplinary teams have been created in the South Kazakhstan oblast to work with the families with HIV positive children. AIDS regional center press service informed the agency.
"Each team includes three people: a doctor, a nurse and a social worker. Eleven teams were trained by the Russian and Ukrainian experts," the press service informed.
The objective of multidisciplinary teams consists in rendering assistance in adaptation of HIV positive children in the society and maintenance of strict observance of the schedule of antiretrovirus therapies.
According to the AIDS center, selection for multidisciplinary teams was carried out in a very strict manner. "The specialists are to possess such qualities as decency, empathy, sympathy. They are to be professionals," the interlocutor explained. Seven out of eleven created teams will work in the regions of the oblast, the others - in Shymkent.
As it was informed earlier, 108 HIV positive children (eight died, one - adopted and left abroad) and 13 HIV positive mothers have been revealed in the South Kazakhstan oblast.
