USA welcomes political reforms in Kazakhstan

Astana. February 28. Kazakhstan Today - The USA welcomes political reforms in Kazakhstan. The US Assistant Secretary of State for Southern and Central Asia Richard Baucher said on Tuesday at the briefing after the meeting with the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the agency reports.

"We talked about the process of political reforms in Kazakhstan and I told the President that the USA welcomes this process and supports the steps directed at realization of political reforms," R. Baucher said. "We also wish to work in economic sphere to promote diversification of the Kazakhstan economy and to help with development of small and medium enterprise in the country," he added.

During the meeting the questions of bilateral partnership in the sphere of securing of international and regional safety were discussed. "We spoke about the issues of regional stability, our cooperation in the field of safety, struggle against drugs, antiterrorist cooperation, commercial policy, and cooperation in the field of electric power," R. Baucher said.
