Structure of CRRF operative centre to be confirmed in first half of 2010

Moscow. January 12. Kazakhstan Today - The structure of the operative centre of Collective Rapid Response Forces (CRRF) of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will be confirmed in the first half of this year, CSTO press secretary, Vitaly Strugovets, informed.

According to V. Strugovets, the heads of states of the CSTO member countries made the decision on creation of control body CRRF in the CSTO staff on June 14.

"We will hold the next consultations next month. The CSTO Secretary General, Nikolay Bordyuzha, said, summing up the results of 2009, that we will begin "the second wave" of CRRF this January. We have created them, have carried out the first exercises, and have had the results, Now, we need to improve the collective forces. Therefore, we will held consultations of experts to discuss many issues (creation of the CRRF operative centre) this January," V. Strugovets informed.

"The next summit of the heads of states is planned for the second quarter of 2010."

As informed earlier, the decision on CRRF creation the heads of the CSTO states made in Moscow on February 4, 2009. CRRF will be used to repulse military aggression and carrying out of special operations to struggle against international terrorism and extremism, transnational organized crime, drug trafficing, and liquidation of consequences of emergencies.
