Germany presented "Initiative on solution of water issues in Central Asia"

Government of Germany is going to assist authorities of the Central Asian republics in regulation of conflicts, dealt with allocation of water resources and problems of water supply in the region. Frank Walter Stainmayer, foreign minister of Germany announced about it at the opening of the international conference "Water unites - New perspectives of cooperation and security" on April 2 in Berlin. Making his speech before representatives of five republics of the region, he presented "Initiative on solution of water issues in Central Asia" (Wasserinitiative Zentralasien), Deutche Welle radio informs.

About 150 high ranked politicians, experts, the UN and the EU delegates, as well as representatives of business circle from Central Asia and Europe participated in the event, which was conducted in discussion regime.

"The fact that today conference is conducted in the Foreign Ministry of Germany proves that water topic has reached long ago the level of international security policy. The places with lack of water, where disputes are started because of water, are areas with potential threat to peace, conflicts appearance and destabilization of situation.
